My first tutorial - as promised. I hope this helps you all with basic eye manipulation. Please credit me if you use my tutorial to make anything. If my handwriting is a bit messy, or a certain part doesn't quite make sense, send me a note so I can edit the tutorial. Enjoy!

This is really great! :)

Is there any chance you'd know how to manipulate or improve a macro image of a reptile eye?
I captured this highly detailed macro photo of a bearded dragon's eye in the wild and although it's highly detailed it's very plain still... I just don't know what to do with it, I'm not very experienced in Photo Manipulation. :(

Thanks anyway! :)

it should actually be quite a similar process. if you take out the eye shadowing and other make-up effects away it should work the same way. :)

Love it! But one quick question, how do you set a layer to color?
Reply
:icons-defenestration:
S-Defenestration Featured By Owner Jul 8, 2012  Hobbyist
there should be a drop box that says "normal" somewhere on your screen, near the layer tabs. scroll down until you can find "color". :) sorry it's late, but I hope it helps.

Just a question, for the first step, can it be any kind of colour, that's that kind of pale? If not, what # is there color?

Photoshop Elements 5.0. It should work with later versions of photoshop too, but may need tweaking.

I was just wondering, when you darken the eyelashes, what steps do you use? I cant seem to do it properly :/

Great tutorial tho! :)

Step four is the darkening lashes. Try fiddling around with different burn tool options, as different stock images respond differently to the tool.

I don't get it. I tried to use this tutorial but each step ended up nothing like your pictures, and everything was a solid color instead of the slightly see-through glass effect you had. It looked like I just painted over the eye and you can't see the eye at all. Also, the burn tool isn't doing anything. What am I doing wrong? Can you be a little more descriptive in your explanation? That would help a lot. Thanks!

You're probably not using layers properly. Either that, or you're not changing the settings of your brush right. I'm about as descriptive as I can get in my explanation... sorry.
